SOCIAL AND PERSONAL. Mr ; Ernest Hovvden. Park lane, was expected to return from Dunedin yesterday. Miss C. Smith (Sydney) is at present spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs Xevill .Smith, Guthrie street. Mrs Charles Guthrie has returned to Dunedin after spending a few days in Titnam. Mr and Mrs N. D. Mangos, Craigie avenue, are expected to return from Christc-hurch to-day. Mrs Herbert !e Cren, Dunedin, who Las been the guest of Mrs C. H. Ie Cren, Grey road, returned south yesterday. •Mrs J. C. Templer, who has been the gusst of Miss Wright, Wai-iti road, will return to Wairnate to-day. Miss Kathleen Gresson returned to Ciiristf-hureh yesterday. Captain and Mrs A. A. E. Pennefather have rL-ti:rned from Christehureh. Mrs Ben Howeli. Cave, is paying a visit to her mother, Mrs G. E. Rhodes, ' ; Beverley.'' Ckristehurch. Miss K. T. Maud Shappere, Melbourne, who, with her parents, was resident in Tiniaru some years ago, is a guest at the Hydro Grand Hotel, and will leave to-morrow for Mt. Cook. Miss Shappere. who is well known in Melbourne as secretary of the League of Gentlewomen, is making a tour of the Dominion. IWent arrivals at the Hydro Grand Hou-i in elude: Misses E. E.
