COAT-OF-ARMS INCIDENT,

Special enquiries reveal that so far no official report has been received regarding the Queensland coat-of-arms incident. A representative of the Italian Foreign Office stated that the Government would certainly protest if an official report from its representatives showed that there were grounds for such protest. —Australian Press Association. PROBABLY A CHRISTMAS PRANK. (Received December 28th, 8.50 p.m.) BRISBANE, December 28. The Deputy-Premier has instructed the police to make every effort to try to trace the offender who removed the coat of arms from the Italian Consul's office at Innisfail. He points out that brass plates were removed on the same night from other premises, indicating a Christmas prank. [During the holidays the coat-of-arms in front of the Italian Consulate at Innisfail was removed. Tho ViceConsul described the affair as an insult. He said it was time such occurrences ended, and he looked to the proper authorities to trace the guilty person.]
