DISTEMPER IN DOGS.

Immunity of dogs from. distemper can be Secured in future by inoculation,' according to a report of the Medical Research Council announcing the success of five years' study and experiment. „ . ■ The method consists of inoculation, first with a vaccine consisting of the inactivated virus of distemper, and secondly, after an interval of ten days with an attenuated strain of living virus. , . ~ , . The committee has invited a commercial laboratory to produce the vaccine. The discovery of the vaccine is the result of five years' research work by Dr. Laidlaw and Mr Dunkin at the laboratories of the Medical Research Council. The fund for research work was raised by tlio weekly journal, the "Field.'' ' The experiments, which were carried out on 1300 dogs and hounds, including some famous hunting packs, show, it is stated, that the animals can be completely immunised. Australian Press Association.
