•• ——* I PRISCILLA DEAN'S LATEST. j QUEEN'S THEATRE, MONDAY. j The admirers of Priscilla Dean will find hor latest Metropolitan Btar vehicle, "Jewels of Desire," at the Queen's Theatre ne?t week, exceptionally delightful. It is safe to ■ay that in none of her recent stellar offerings has she been Been to finer advantage than in this thrilling photoplay. John Bowers as the hero and Walter Long as the villain fill their roles with unusual artistry, and both soored personal triumphs by their excellent portrayals. Of course, one expects to see quickiire action in . any picture starring Miss Dean. Certainly there ia nothing lacking in "Jewels of Desire," as far as the star role of Miss Dean is concerned. From book agent to a battling hunter for buried treasure on a lonely island, this dynamic star runs the gamut of thrills in her accustomed virile manner. The story tells of a girl who inherits a Spanish estate, of which a buried treasure chest ia a part, and of her struggles with three bandits who seek to deprive her of her inheritance at any cost. There are many intensely thrilling scenes in which Miss Dean a flair for fighting against odds and winning is given ample play. As usual, she vests her role with that virile artistry which long since made her one of the most athletic o£ the women stare of the screen. The supporting, players are excellent, iney include Luke Cosgrave, Syd. Crossloy, -trine Adams, Raymond Wells, and Marie Percivale. The picture was splendidly directed by " au PowelL . There is plenty of punch and pep in L >" Sullivan's newest starring vehicle, une Punch O'Day," a modern comrdy-drama, which forms the second attraction. Here is a story of a young prizefighter known as "One Punch O'Day' who, to escape being sent to goal after a fracas in a night clug, takes refuge with Ilia manager in a box car, bound for they know not wnere. They find themselves the next morning in a little one-horse oil town, and the champ, soon finds uimstii in love with the prettiest girl in town. Her father is all mixed up in local oil < J® xe,o P ment, and when the girl implores him help save her father's fortunes, there is not lng for him to do but accept.
