PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
NEXT MEETING IN DUNEDIN.
[TEE PEESS Special Service.]
AUCKLAND, November 30.
The final session of the Presbyterian General Assembly was held to-day, the business being mostly in the nature: of a "washing up" of the questions left over or adjourned earlier in the proceedings. , The adjourned discussion on the question of Church union was continued by the Rev. R. M. Ryburn, who moved the appointment of a committee, to be called a Committee of Friendly Relations with Sister Chui'ches, whose* task would be to col-! lect information as to what measure of ■ co-operation between the Churches was J already operating and to promote closer association in whatever ways were possible. The motion was carried. When an overture concerning the architecture of church buildings was received, the Rev. L. Hunt stated that I too often buildings were erected which were not a credit to the Church, nor did they show that the money involved had been wisely expended. In other countries there was careful criticism of building plans, whether for churches or manses. He N thought a central board should be set up, including in its membership competent architects. The Moderator said he was motoring through the country on one occasion, and ooming upon a church he remarked that it must be a Presbyterian Church, because it was the ugliest building one could see in the district. (Laughter.) It was decided to agree to the proposal in the overture, but that the matter be remitted to the Advisory' Board, It was decided that the next meeting of the Assembly bfe held in Dunedin, commencing on March sth, 1930.
