SOUTHERN CROSS FLAGS.
RESULTS OF RAFFLE. It will be remembered that when the Southern Cross landed in Christchurch after its flight across the Tasman it brought with it four flags—a Royal Air Force flag, New Zealand Ensign, a Union Jack, and an Australian flag—to be raffled for the purpose of raising funds for New Zealand and Australian hospitals. The raffle was drawn in the Navy League Hall last evening, Miss Enid Robertson being selected from the audience to draw the numbers. This was done in the presence of the police, and it was found that two of the flags were to remain in Christchurch, another was to go to Blenheim, while the fourth was drawn by a Dunedin resident. The Air Force flag was won by the Tai Tapu Dairy' Company, the New Zealand Ensign by Mr D. Kirk, 16 Winton street, St. Albans, the Union Jack by Dr. Palmer, Blue Mountains, Blenheim, and the Australian flag by M* O. G. Miller, of 129 Dundas street, Dunedin. The numbers of the'respective winning tickets were E11,218, A 34,380, A 13,040, C 07,306. The ampunt collected is not disclosed, but it is understood that it is disappointing. The North Canterbury district is reported to have raised more than the rest of New Zealand together.
