LEAGUE OF NATIONS.
SUPPORT FROM PRESBYTERIANS [THE PRESS Special Service.] / * AUOKLANt>, November SO. The League of Nationß Union Oommittee of the Presbyterian General Assembly brought down a report this morning, presented by the Rev. R. Inglis, of Wellington, stating that ft marked advanoe in interest had been shown in the League. ! Children in many of the State schools were receiving regular instruction in the League's affairs. The Committee said it was not yet satisfied with the attitude of the Church to this greatest of world organisations. Their attitude was in no case antagonistic. It was friendly, but, not actively and conspicuously friendly. The Church should be foremost of all organisations in supporting the League. The nations were the most deadly of all the weapons of offence. Last year Britain spent no less than £115,000,000 on her combined forces, and so it would continue until the people said without ambiguity: "You must stop this thing." Mr Winston Churchill had solemnly declared that peace should now be the supremo object of human endeavour. When the average man was convinced that that sentiment was true war would cease. A deliverance was adopted to the effect that the League was still far from accomplishing its chief object, and the Assembly was thankful that the steadfastness with which it sought a solution encouraged the hope that it would finally succefed. The League wad indispensable to the peace of the world, and the first Sunday of September was appointed as League Sunday and min r isters were requested to make full use of the day to further the interests of the League.
