An. unusual < claim against a dentist for £l2l 19s 6d for an operation allegedly negligently performed was heard in^the.Hamilton Magistrate'a.Court 'be- : fore Mr Wilson, S.M., to-day. The plaintiff, Mrs Janet Lybum,.sued H. W. Frost, Limited, whose employee, J. E. Kirkland, performed the operation. Kirkland had informed plaintiff, who desired a new denture, that a flap of akin on tho lower jaw should be removed. After- the operation blood gushed from her mouth. Plaintiff alleged that Dr. I)ouglas, who was called in by Kirkland, asked: "What have you been doing? Have you ever seen an artery cut like this?" Dr. Douglas stitched the wound and later Kirkland removed tlie Stitches. A further operation was required because -of the'gum and cheek adhering. Plaintiff was in hospital for seven days. .. 'Two doctors gave evidence in support of plaintiff's claim. Tie caso was adjourned.
