LABOUR IN OFFICE.
: TO THB EDITO3 OF THE PEESS. > Sir, —During the past fortnight Labour interjectors at political meetings > have repeatedly mentioned that, as the Labour Party had never been in power in New Zealand, other candidates had ■ no grounds on which to criticise their administration. . However, Christchurch has been particularly favoured through having nad the experience of a Labour Council, and 1 am writing to ask all electors before registering their votes to consider a glaring example of Labour's ideals in that prize atrocity in Worcester street, viz., the Municipal Market. Conditions have existed on that site which would not have been tolerated for one_ minute had they been proposed by private enterprise, and, although the market is admittedly a failure, it has served to show, that Labour in power is prepared to ride rough shod over the health and beauty of the City to achieve its own ends. ft is a short steo from municipal isation to nationalisation, and electors are warned by this market of the possible results of a Labour Government which advocates the nationalisation of every profitable industry.—Yours, etc., BY THEIR DEEDS YE SHALL KNOW THEM.
