INDIGNANT CLERIC.

SHOOTING OF ABORIGINALS. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIOHT.) DARWIN, November 12. The Rev. A. McGregor, commenting on the shooting of seventeen aboriginals by the police in the hunt for the native murderer of the man Frederick Brooks, said: "It is an anomaly to shoot seventeen natives like so many kangaroos when you intend to spend thousands of pounds on a trial to give two others, who survived, the benent of British justice. . . "I do not feel vindictive, but l intend to try to persuade the Australian public that this thing shall not occur again. The settlers and police should be consistent in their indignation respecting the Brooks murder. Let the settlers dispose of their coloured mistresses, so that the only trouble rankling in the native mmd, besides a few kicks and curses, may be the question of hunger owing to drought/'—Australian Press Association.

[The police hunted down a band of fleeing natives in Central Australia, following the murder of Frederick Brooks, who was decoyed by a native woman.
