A man Vho is known to Scotland Yard as the "slickest hotel thief in tM country." is believed.to have been responsible for a £2OOO jewellery coup at a West .End hotel. 1 . Carrying a luxurious.crocodile leather portmanteau, a man arrived at• Bwio Hotel, Grosvenor' street and, a«| signing the register, ■ retired to m s rooms, ostensibly to change ««,«»« Afterwards it-was. discovered that visits were made to rooms whose occupants: were at dinner. From one, jewellery valued at £2OOO had d«a£ peared. A diamond necklace, a pear* necklace, an emerald ring, J*«K brooches, a gold pendant, wristlet watches, and bracelets were among tn missing property, also a good sum i bank notes. • ' ■■ j-,„«»«>d When the robberies .were disc°verea detectives were .summoned.
