Ruapehu, Napier, December 28th. SHIPPING NOTES. Yesterday was a very slack day in port, •the only vessels in port being the " ferry steamer' Maori and the small steamer John. The oil-tanker Voco was also discharging, but she usep no waterside labour. A - big increase in shipping is expected over the week-end. To-morrow (Show Day) will be observed as a closo holiday on the waterfront, and the railway goods sheds at Christchurch and Lyttclton will be closed. The Kahika is due to-morrow morning from Dunedin, Oamaru, 'and Timaru. _ She takes in cargo on Saturday for Napier and Gisborne'and sails ,via Wellington. ThV Progress is timed to load here on Tuesday for Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. Tho Kennody should, arrivo to-morrow from Foxton, and is to sail on Saturday with cargp for Wellington and Foxton. 'The-Kurow should be here to-morrow.from the south.: She commences loading on Saturday for Auckland. Tho Wairau is due on Sunday from Blenheim, and is to load on Monday for the return trip. Tho Cygnet should arrive to-night from Kaikoura and Wellington. She loads here on Saturday for those ports. The Storm is expected on Sunday from Westport with coal for the hulk Kaupo. On completing discharge she will lay up for.annual overhaul. -.■_■; .The Hertford is an expected arrival tomorrow from Wellington. She has cargo for West of England ports for discharge. The Holmdale should arrive on Saturday trom Dunedin and Timaru, and is to sail in the afternoon with cargo for Wellington and I Wanganui. The.Calm is due on Sunday from.the north, [and.is.to sail on! Monday for Bluff, Dunedin iaiid Timaru. The Kawatiri should arrive at Lvttelton on November 27th from Newcastle, Svdney, and Hobart. From this port sho goes to Timaru. The JCairanga, from Adelaide and Melbourne, via New Plymouth, Auckland, Portland. Napier, Wellington, and Castlecliuy is expected to reach Lyttelton, about November 27th. Advice lias been received that the American steamer Golden Cloud left Dos Angeles on November Ist: with Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Timaru. and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on November 27th. -

. . The Waitemata arrived at Napier on Tuesday from Pacific Coast ports. The vessel 18 to leave to-morrow for New Plymouth Nelson, Lyttelton, and Dunedin to complete disenaxge. ■■

The Gale is to load here' on Monday for Wellington and Wanganui. The American steamer Golden Bear arrived at Wellington at 3 o'clock on Monday morning from Pacific Coast ports, via Anclelaud. The Golden Bear is to proceed from Wellington to-day to Nelson and Lyttelton to complete discharge. The New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Ruahine arrived at Wellington at 7 o'clock.on Monday morning from Auckland for further loading.
