THE CHRISTCHURCH SOUTH SEAT.
TO THE BDITOB 07 THE PBESS. Sir,—Speaking at the West Spreydon School last evening, Mr McCully stated that he was utterly disgusted at the attitude of the 1928 Committee, who were supporting the Reform candidates. This reminded me of the old Irish lady in London, who, after witnessing the march past of a company of soldiers, exclaimed: "Why, they were all out of step except my Charlie." According to Mr McCully, all business men on the 1928 Committee who are now supporting the Reform Government candidates, are wrong in their judgment and only Mr C. S. McCully is right. Has it not occurred to Mr McCully that these same business men have discovered a more tactful and effective method of securing their objective than that adopted by Mr McCully, who in effect says: "If you do not give me what I am after, I'll kick you out of office." The method adopted by the 1928 Committee has ,a reasonable chance of success, but if Mr McCully's tactics were adopted they would be doomed to certain failure.—Yours, etc., 1928. November 7th.
