At the Winter Garden, last night, Mr and Mrs Bichard Allen entertained their friends at x an enjoyable danco, given in honour of their, daughter, Miss Diana Allen. The lounge was decorated with maples and large bowls of flowers, and the supper tables with choice roses, lilies of the valley, and maidenhair fern. Mrs Allen wore a graceful frock of silver lace draped over pink lamfi, with sash of silver lace ■ embroidered at the ends. Miss Allen's picture frock was of pale pink satin, with bodice of georgette and lace, and scalloped skirt with deep transparent hem of beige lace outlined with tiny roses; and the large bow of her pink satin sash was fastened with pink roses. CITY COUNCIL CRICKET CLUB DANCE. The above club held a very successful carnival dance at Ridgely Hall on Thursday evening last, there being 100 guests present. The hall was artistically decorated with many plants and ferns and. streamers. Mrs Eyre's orchestra supplied spirited music. The arrangements were ably carried out by the M.C., Mr M. Wilson, arid Mr W. Rollands, assisted by. an energetic committee, comprising Messrs F. Quin, S. Eyre, G. Newton, F. Horwell, R. Rameev, and L. Sanders. Winners of the lucky-spot were Mr nn d Mrs L. Keecli; snowball, Mrs Mayo and Mr Alderson; Monte jparlo. Miss Smith and Miss Maclean. MISS EDNA PIRTH,

The Jellicoe Hall ■ was filled to the doors on Thursday evening last, when Miss Edna Firth made her debut as a solo pianist to a most appreciative audience. Miss Firth wore an attractive frock of shell pink georgette, embroidered with diamante and crystal beads. During the performance she was presented with many beautiful floral tributes and boxes of chocolates. After the recital Mr and Mrs Ernest Firth entertained a number of friends at their home in Manchester street in honour of their daughter.
