Her holds were flooded, and the crew had lost hope when the pilot steamer came to the rescue with the tug Eagle and towed the Hillmeade into Port Phillip Bays The Iron Baron, a steamer, was the first to notice the Hillmeade's plight, and sent a radio to the lighthouse-' keeper.—Australian Press Association.
