LYTTELTON NEWS

$ R.A.0.8. The annual dance of the Lyttolton Lodge of the K.A.0.8. was held in the Exuelsior Hall on Wednesday night. There was an attendance of about 200, including representatives of all the Canterbury lodges of the Order. Keg. Woods's Band provided the dance music, and Messrs S. Porteous and W. Muir were Jf.C.'s. Glep Club Concert. The Canterbury Kilwinning Glue Club held its final concert of the season in the Masonic Hall last evening. There was a good attendance of members and friends. The programme was a .request one, and the Glee Party, under the conductorship of Bro. A. A. Swabv, gave several part-songs and glees pleasingly. The soloists were Mrs A. T. Smith and -Mrs P. N. Kerr (Sumner), Miss Green, Misses A. and I. Carson, Bros. P. Heal, W. Watson. The accompaniments were played by Mrs E. W. Brown, and Miss N. Poster was the organist. Harbour Light Theatre. "Annie Laurie," a romance of the Highlands, which embodies tho story oi Glencoe, was screened before a well-filled house at the Harbour Light Theatre last evening. Lillian Gish and Norman Kerry aro the stars, and the picture is superbly produced. Prior to the screening Mr Arthur McDonald sang "Haill Caledonia" and "Annie Laurie" in his usual accomplished manner, and was warmly applauded. Tho programme included "Forty Thousand Miles With Lindbergh," a comedy, and tho ninth episode of "The Collegians." and will be repeated to-night, whon Mr McDonald will again sing. To-morrow two comedy features will bo shown. They aro "Hot Heels," starring Glenn Tryou and Patsy Ruth Miller, and "Slide, Kelly, Slide," featuring William Haines. A gazette and comedy will also be screened. ■ Thero will bo no pictures on Monday, the theatre having been engaged for the Convent High School annual concert.
