YESTERDAY'S SESSION. The Christchurch Diocesan Synod continued jts sessions yesterday, his Lordship Bishop., West-Watson presiding. , . On the motion of Mr'H. D. Andrews, Chancellor, the Pensions Board _ was authorised to confer with its actuary as to the application of the provincial pension scheme to the diocese, and to defray any expenses so incurred. The following revised scale of grants for travelling expenses to Archdeacons was decided on : To each of the tour Archdeacons the sum of £oO m_ each year, together with the sum ot to" in each year to the Archdeacons of Akaroa, Rangiora, and Timaru, and 01 £lO in each, year to the Arcndeacon of Christchurcn. ' . "That the Synod has learned with much appreciation of the very generous reduction in boarding and. school fpes now offered to the sons of the clergy by Christ's College and desires to congratulate the Warden and Fellows ofthe College on the libertality shown by them in making such reduction," was a motion received with enthusiasm by the clergy. , Members in deep appreciation of the generous action of the "Christ s College authorities Archdeacon F. N. Taylor said he thought, he saw in the concession something more than an act' of generosity.. He thought, the school that clergymen's sons werd worth having. Mr R. de Lambert said the fact that the other church schools had done the same should not be lbst sight of. Mr Ferriman: Is the school'living up to the' terms of its constitution? How many clergymen is it turning out? . „ The Rev. H. Williams (himself a Christ's College old boy): I don't know about quantity, but I can reassure you as to quality. (Laughter.)_ The' Bishop said it was pleasing to see that the school had the, interests of the Church so much at heart. The motion was passed. " Standing Committee. The following Standing Committee was elected: Clergy.—The Very Rev, Dean Julius, the Ven. Archdeacons Taylor, Haggitt, and Purchase, the Rev Canons S. Hamilton, tand P. J.
