MAN DIES FROM FALL.

The inquest into the death of Daniel Cosgrove, aged 47 years, of Hazeldean road, was opened before the Coroner (Mr E. D.' Mosley) yesterday. Through falling down the stairway _ at the Empire Hotel on Saturday evening, Cosgrove fractured the base of his skill, and died in the Christchurch Hospital yesterday morning. Sergeant Almond conducted the proceedings for the police. Florence P. Cosgrove, wife of _ the deceased, gave evidence of identification. ■ . 1 The inquest was then adjourned to enable the police to make enquiries.
