AUCKLAND, October 21

As a result.of injuries sustained on Friday. evening,! V. Grant Allen, second mate of the' steamer Canadian Explorer, died in the Auckland Hospital at midnight on Saturday. Grant, who is a native of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, was boarding the vessel when he slipped, and in falling into the water struck a pile and was rendered unconscious. " 'He had been connected with Canadian National Government steamers for some years.
