MEETING AT NEW BRIGHTON. On Saturday the Now Zealund Whippet .Racing Club held one of its popular meetings at the New Brighton racecourse, when there was a fair attendance. Owing to a number qf 'the Ohristchurch dogs having left the day before to compete in the Manawatu Club "a Labour Day meeting, tho entries were fewer, than usual. .Competition, however, was keen' in oil events, and interest was added by the fact that this was the last time that the dogs would be in action prior to the "'New Zealand Cup Meeting, which is to be held at English Park on Saturday, November 10th:— The following wero tho results: — Fitzßimmons Handicap (<for puppies under nine months), 150yds—First heat: Mr A..E. Smith's Rob Roy (scr) 1, Miss-Lorna Fitzsimmons's Gold Girl (2yds) 2. A keen finish, with Polly close up. Time, Usee. Second heat: Mr T. H. Owen's Marie Jean (3yds) 1, Miss Zena Grenfell's Colleen (2yds) 2. Colleen checked just before tho post, and Marie Jean came through to win by a length. Time, Usee. Final: Colleen 1, Marie Jean 2. A fine race. Won by a length. Time, Usee. York Handicap (First-class), 200 yd—s heat: .Mr W. F. Grenfell's Commander , (syds) v 1, Mr M. Robinson's Miss Comedy i(scr) 2. A close finish. Time, 14sec. Second heat: Mr R. Robinson's Little Ruby (7yds) 1, Mr R. Musson's Lone Star (7yds) 2. Won by a head. Time, 13 4-ssec. Final: Little Ruby I,' Lone Star 2.
