MARINE COOKS' STRIKE.
CHARGES AGAINST JOHNSON. (tTNITED' PRESS ASSOCIATION—BS ELECTEIC TELEOBASH^-COrmGHT.) (Received August 14th, 11.15 p.m,). SYDNEY, August 14. The hearing has begun of the charges against Jacob Johnson, as a sequelto the recent marine cooks' strike,. He is charged with hindering inter-State commerce and attempting to induce men to leave their employment by means of intimidation. These men were the firemen who arrived at Sydney in a ship manned by a crew who had agreed to do without cooks. Johnson, the prosecution alleged, became vituperative and told the men that if they did not leave th<» ship, bags of ashes could conveniently fall from the hoists. The case was adjourned.—Australian Press Association.
