CLUBS RAIDED.

PANIC AMONG GAMBLERS.

A PHOTOGRAPHER ATTACKED.

(united press association— by electric TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) NEW YORK, August 13. A message from New Orleans says that on the Governor's order heavilyarmed National Guardsmen raided two fashionable clubs on the outskirts of the city, and seized elaborate gambling equipment, causing panic among 225 patrons, many of whom were women, who fainted and added to the excitement.

Fifty men attacked a newspaper photographer, whom the guardsmen rescued in an unconscious condition. The equipment was later destroyed and burned in a bonfire. A considerable amount of money which was left on the tables will probably revert to the State. —Australian Press Association.
