PERSONAL. Mr J. Farrell. (Hinds) is a patient in Oakhurst Private Hospital. Hospital Board. ,:The monthly, meeting of the Hospital Board was held yesterday. Present: Messrs F. W. Watt (chairman), J. Bruce, A.; Horsey,. W. G. Gallagher, H. Maginness, G. S. Hardy, W. Bryant, and W. T. Lill. A financial review of the past four months presented by the treasurer, showed that the fees collected from all sources were £451 7a 9d ahead of the estimate, but the maintenance expenditure was £244 16s 2d in excess of the estimate. There, had been expenditure of a non-recurring'nature. The charitable aid account was £24 - less than last year. The Capital expenditure for the whole year was £5393 and £llO2 os 3d had so far been spent. The credit balance was £I2OO 9s 4d, to which should be added £1382 17s lOd, which was the amount outstanding. The occupied beds J had been 63.8 per day for this year, compared with 67 for last year. „ The Hospital Committee reported that the agreement with the Friendly Societies would lapse on August 31st, and the Friendly Societies' Association had been asked to communieate its views regarding a renewal.. The Medical Superintendent (Dr.. D. A. Bathgate) reported that 79 patients remained in the hospital at . the end of June, 55 were admitted~during July, and 06 discharged, leaving 36 males and 32 females remaining. During last month 78 outpatients were treated and 32 operations were performed.. "' The reports from the various homes showed that 13 patients were admitted to Malvern, 13 discharged, leaving 4, and 6 were Admitted to Methven, 4 discharged, arid 2 remained, while 6. were admitted at Ralcaia, 4 discharged,, leaving three. The matter of assessing the rental to be paid by the County Council for the rooms recently vacated by the Plunket Society was referred to the Hospital Committee for a report.

Obituary. Mrs Harriet Myra Wright, widow of the late E. G. Wright, and mother-in-law of the Hon. Mr Nosworthy, dwdat ! the latter's residence, Walnut' avenue, Asbburton, yesterday morning. She was a daughter of the late Mr W. Roberts, and was born in Tasmania in 1843. : Fifteen years later she went to Euglajnd, wh<?re she was "educated. She married ''Sir E. G. Wright in 1867, and first settled in Christchurch, where her JiusbanS .carried opt/several engineering contracts, and later at Windermere, where they took over the Windermere estate. Mrs Wright took a-great deal of interest in her'husband having represented' tJoleri'dge.: and' later Ashburton, in; Parliament.
