CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION. management committee. The Management Committee of 'the Canterbury Hockey Association met'last evening. Present: Messrs L. ,L. Smith (chairman), A. Maßoney, H. Snook, J. Hitchen, E. Thompson, Y. Hahn, L. Ward, J, Pascoe, H. K. Sampson, A. Graham, E. Harvey, and H. M. Lamb. The Wesley Club were granted permission to play against the Wellington Wesley Club on August 25th. and 27th, also the use of a ground at Linwood Park on those, dates. A fine imposed on the Trinity Club for neglecting to remove the net at Sydenham Park was remitted on the club's protest, which stated that the members of the team removed the net in question'.- ■ It was decided to draw the attention of the groundsman at Ensor's load to the ■unsatisfactory marking of the grounds. The referees at St. Albans Park and No. i Hagley Park reported on the state of the grounds and equipment and the Grounds Committee were instructed to adjust the sub-, jects of the complaints. A Trinity senior player was suspended for the remainder of the season for wildand indiscriminate play in the match againßt Technical B on August 4th. A Selwyn senior player was suspended for one playing Saturday for a fimilar offence. On the recommendation of the Competitions Committee it was decided to postpone the junior competition matches on Saturday next on account of the junior representative teams' absence in Auckland and Dunedin. • The question of continuing the junior, third, and fourt bjprade competitions was left to the Competitions and Emorgency Committees. The fifth grade competition will continue for at least two Saturdays. The St. Albans and Redcliffs Clubs were fined for playing unqualified players. : Mr H.-E Sampson reported that all arrangements were in hand for the Association's annual cmofce concert. : t ~ The Primary Schools' 'Committee reported that the Lyttelton D.H. team-had won the A grade with 8i points, Bedclifis ' being, second with 7J. It was decided to close the A grade and to play a trial match on Saturday next.. The B grade competition would be continued 'as follows:—Lyttelton West will meet Lyttelton D.H. during the week and the winner will play Bast Chriatohurch on Saturday next to decide the winner of the competition. The primary and secondary schools teams will leave for the West Coast on August 21st, play at' "Westport on .August 22nd, and return to Christchutch the following day. Mr H. B. Sampson was appointed manager for the trip. The Ashburton Association wrote accepting, the suggestion: that matched againstton and '- MetHven be played in Ashburton- - next Saturday.
