STRAND THEATRE.
A FINE PROGRAMME. The programme at the Strand Theatre this week is headed by "Hills of Peril," starring Buck Jones. This is a highly entertaining Western story of a very wild cowpuncher known as Laramie, played by Buck Jones, who receives very peremptory instructions to leave Pinon City. He does, after placing one final trick on the committee that gave him his notice, and wanders into the desert. His subsequent - wanderings, his resolve to quit his mischievous habits, and his meeting with the one girl, furnish the basis of a plot which is of absorbing interest. Fine horsemanship, daring ridinff, and beautiful scenic shots are features of this picture. Buckie Black, a diminutive youngster, Jiai an important role. This picture has a great deal to recommend it to every type ot theatregoer, and contains romance, danger, mystery, suspense, and scenes of rare beauty that will linger long in the memory. Never has Mae'Murray appeared in a picture that compares in artistry with Altars of Desire," the second attraction, in wnicn Conway Tearle plays the featured male role. The picture, is a delightful combination M comedy and drama. Her role is a new type for Mae Murray, in ihat it depends largely for its appeal on subtlety and whimsical sitnations. ' In the first half of the picture the star plays with a pretty insouciance, ana in the latter scenes proves herself a magnincent dramatie actress. . "Blake of Scotland Vard," a comedy, » Felix cartoon, and a topical complete the bill.
