TRAMWAY DIVERSION.

TO THE EDITOB 01 THE PEE3B Sir, —The new scheme of diversion of trams from Cathedral square has much to commend it, but naturally it will not suit everyone. The diversion eastwards at Armagh street frill probably serve the people from St. Albans and Richmond, but not the bulk of those from Papanui, many of whom are bound for the central shopping areas, or westward of Colombo street. As a contribution to the discussion, may I suggest that south-bound Papanui and Fendnlton trams should turn southwards down Oxford terraoe after crossing Victoria bridge, and thence return by Lichfield street to Colombo Btreet. There would thus be no option of travelling south on either the eastern or western sides of the centre of the City. —Yours, etc., Y.M.C.A.
