In reviewing last year's marine Business, Mr Hubbard, chairman of the Guardian Assurance Company, Ltd., emphasised the large number of casualties which had m 1927 (reports "Tho Shipping World ). Fewer fires on shipboard had, however, taken place, though the claims arising out of this peril had been costly, particularly in respect to cargo. Underwriters, he added, in conjunction' with owners, both at Home' and abroad, were endeavouring to get more stringont regulations imposed with the idea of preventing losses by fire.
