CHRISTCHURCH STOCK EXCHANGE.

There was a fair turnover of stocks yesterday and prices were well maintained. In the stools and bond section .buyers offered £97 15s lor the 4J per cent, tax free issues, no sellers quoting. per cent, stock, due 1930, was available at and 4 per cent. 1929 taxable stock at £9°, no buyers. Quotations for .New Zeaianu Breweries debentures were 23s od buyers, 23s 8d sellers. In ' the bankiag section, buyers weie in strong evidence, and most stocks showed a hardening tendency. Australian Bank of Commerce ro3e 2d to turnover at 34s 4d, and more were wanted at 34s sd, sellers asking 34s Bd. Bank of Australasia shares liad stronger demand at £14,7s 6d, but sellers were reticent. Commercial Bank of Australia had dealings at 28s 9d with further buyers at that price, sellers at 28s lOd. English, Scottish, and Australian Bank were steady with business at £8 8s 6d, and buvers stayed in at that figure, sellers at £8 "8s 9d. Bank of New South Wales buyers moved up to £4B 2s 6d, but sellers wanted £4B ss, A parcel of Bank of New Zealand shares was released at 60s 6d; market clewing 60s. 6d buyers, 60s 6d sellers. Queensland National Bank buyers advanced to £9 2e, with sellers at £9 10s. Other stocks held at late rates. In the miscellaneous investment section, National Insurance shares quoted ex dividend, 15s 7d sellers, no buyers. Dalgety and Co. shares changed hands on the morn* ing call at £l4 12s, and on tho afternoon call at £l4 12s fid. Goldsbrough, Horls were sought at 50s lOd, but sellers wanted 51s. Howard Smiths were active at higher prices, and on the afternoon all sales were effected at 17s Od, 27s 7d, 27s Sd, market closing 27s 6d buyers, 27s 9d sellers. N.Z. Refrigerating £1 paid shares realised 17s lid, closing quotes 17a lOd buyers, 18s Id sellers. Staples Brewery shares were offered at 36s Get, no buyers. British Tobaccos were fractionally firmer with buyers at 43s Id, sellers at 438 6d. Quill, Morris shares were offered at 20s 9d, buyers quoting 18s 9d.
