"Sporting Life'' congratulates the New Zealand Union on the manner in which it received the International Board's intimation that no British team would be visiting New Zealand in 1930, a compliment to which they were entitled, and welcomes the sportsmanlike and statesmanlike action of the English Union in accepting the invitation, and also the prospects of periodical visits by the, All Blacks. The paper adds:—"There are many reasons why Continental countries are not admitted to fellowship with the Home Unions, but these certainly do not apply to the Dominions, who are as keenly anxious for the future of the game as ourselves." —Australian Press Association, United Service.

SATURDAY'S MATCHES. Saturday's matches at Lancaster Park should bti tlio most evenly-contested series o£ games played this year. Present indications point to one of the best displays seen on the Oval for many a day. The play should be fast, brilliant, and exciting. Both teams are reported to be in excellent form and each confident in their ability to win. The splendid performance put up by Christchurch last Saturday against Old Boys Bhows that they have 6truck top form and will undoubtedly prove formidable opponents of Merivale.'With only half a point separating them in the struggle for championship honours, the game should ba one ol exceptional merit, and should not be missetd by anyone op the lookout for an afterrfoon fuil of excitement and enjoymeat. On the South ground, Albion and High School' Old Boys will try conclusions, and here also a bright, snappy game should be seen.
