GUN CLUBS.

ELLESMERE. ifr L. C. Lomon presided over a meeting of the Ellesmere Gun Club, at which arrangements were made for the Xew Zealand clay and sparrow championships, which have been allotted to the club this year, and will be held at Grand National time. In preference to incurring the expense of laying underground traps on its own ground at Lakeside, the club decided to hold the sparrow championship on the Christchurch Club's ground at Sockburn. It wbb decided that the clay championship and £IOO clay match preceding it should be held at LakeBide. It was resolved that the big matches to be held on the two days preceding the championships should bo for £IOO each, the nomination to be £i 10s, including birds, for the clays, and £5, including birds, for the sparrows.

WAIHAO FORKS. At the Waihao Forks Gun Club's last shoot a fair muster of shooters contested the various events. The first event, a novice match, was annexed by W. S. Jones, A. Gorman being second, and R. Yesberg third. In the next event, a handicap sweepstake of seven birds. R. Mcllwrick, S. F. Hanson, W. S. Jones, and T. Wilce killed all their birds, and divided the stake. In a trophy match of ten biTds, R. Mcllwrick killed all his birds, and won the trophy, presented by Mr J. Matheson. W. Dunlin, G. Smith, W. S. Jones, T. Wilce, F. Ha:i»on, and _J. Christie tied for second place with nine each. On the shoot-off, F. Hanson secured second place, with W. Duncan third. In a sweepstake of seven birds, G. A. McCulloch, W. S. Jones, W. White, and J. Chrißtie killed all their birdß, and divided the stake. The last event, a first-miss-out sweepstake, was won by R. Mcllwrick on the thirteenth bird, with D. Tavendale second (13), and F. Hanson third (8).
