SYDENHAM FIRE STATION.
USE AS LIBRARY. In accordance with the recent decision of the City Council, plans were prepared and tenders invited for converting the old Sydenham Fire Brigade Station for use in connexion with the library. The alterations Will enable the portion formerly used by the fir© brigade to be, utilised as a circulating library, and the present circulating library as a reading room. Reporting on the matter last evening, the Reserves Committee advised the Council that seven tenders had been received for the work, the lowest being that of Mr V.' J. Moir (£560). The committee recommended that the tender be accepted, and that the necessary amount be placed on the current year's estimates. The sum of £460 was placed on last year's estimates for carrying out a portion of the work, but was not expended. The report was adopted.
