CAMBRIAN SOCIETY.
The Cambrian .Society's opening social took place on Saturday night in the" "Come In": Club rooms, Worcester; street. " Mr| d. E. jjonesv presided over an attendance of nearly 100 memOpportunity was given to bid farewell to two highly-esteemed members, Mr and Mrs F. W. Jones, who are leaving New Zealand on Wednesday, on their return to America. Mr Jones was president of the Society for two years, and under his leadership it became firmly established and flourished greatly. . . A delightful programme, consisting of Welsh folk-songs and recitations by the recently-formed Welsh Juvenile Choir, and songs and duets by My., and Mrs Tiler and Mr Ernest Rogers was much enjoyed., .■' • ' , », Eulogistic speeches, referring to Mr and Mrs F. W. Jones, were made by the president, : Mr Thomas Williams, and Mr John Evans, ex-presidents, Mr J. 6. Parry, and Mr David James. On behalf of the members Mr_C. ii,Jones presented Mr and Mrs F.v\. Jones with a suede-bound book of New Zealand views, engraved with the bo-, ciety's crest, an inscription m gold lettering. In acknowledging the gut, Mr Jones -wished the Society every success, and gave the secretary, Mrs Hugh Williams, a sum of money to be devoted to a prize for competition among the children of the choir. After supper had been ba.m3*o round, "Auld Lang Syne" was sung, and all shook hands with %he guests of honour and wished them all happiness for the future.
