TO BEAT ALL RECORDS.
CLAIMS FOR NEW GERMAN INVENTION. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH— COPYRIGHT.) (Received April 14th, 5.5 p.m.') BERLIN, April 13. The belief that all speed records can be be.atcn by a "rocket car" appears in a statement issued by the Opci Motor Company, which claims that Mas Valier, nicknamed the "Cosmos Flyer," owing to. his idea of building a rocket which can be shot into space, has. invented 1 a motor-car driven like a rocket by • combustible powder instead ot petrol., ' The company sayS that the motor-car has attained a speed of IUO kilometres an hour within l eight seconds of starting. It will shortly make an effort to break Malcolm Campbell's record,' 'Which .will necessitate the rocket car travelling oil a railway -track.;' ~, . The company adds that the machine is only a step towards a rocket . ail machine which will be able to reach higher altitudes than have ever jec been attained. The conviction is expressed that within the year such; a machine,- without a crew, will .even penetrate space. —Australian-.Press Association,
