WELL UP TO TIME.

TUNNEL ELECTRIFICATION WORK. The Prime Minister (Mr Coates) told a Press reporter last night that work in connexion with the electrification of the Lyttelton tunnel was well up to timetable. The work of rigging the overhead would be begun next month. The routo for the 11,00.0-volt feeder from Addington to Chrisfyjhurch had been cleared, and a new telegraph line erected between these points. The work on the feeder line would be commenced by the Public Works Department very shortly, as most of the material was now on hand. The tower waggons for drilling the tunnel were completed, and ready for the plant,. and arrangements made for air and water reservoirs. Communications from contractors indicated that the progress of work on the locomotives was in accordance with the schedule, and should enable them to be completed by the time promised. They should be delivered some time in November.
