CONCERT HALL

OPENING ON SATURDAY. It was announced yesterday b.v Mr J. W. Beanland (chairman of the City Council's Concert Hall Committee) that the Municipal Concert Hall would bo opened next Saturday evening at 8 o'clock. Although a few workmen arc still engaged on the front of the building the interior appears to have been completed, except for cleaning-up. Invitations to about 250 persons are being sent out by the City Council staff, but the opening will be free to the public. The Mavor (Mr J. K. Archer) will deliver an address and declare the hall open, and a programme of musical and olocu'tionarv items will follow. The Male Voice Choir Harmonic Society, and Ladies' Choral Society will provide the programme on Monday evening, and most of the items at the concert on Tnesdav evenrn<r will be supplied bv the Christphnrch Musical Society and tli» Liedertafel.
