One of the most remarkable church dramas of recent times is recalled by the announcement that ex-Archdeacon Wakeford has been certified insane and sent to Kent County Asylum. His case was heard by'the Privy Council in 1921. [Archdeacon John Wakeford, Archdeacon of Stowe, was found guilty in February, 1921, on charges of immorality. The charges were that he committed adultery on two occasions at the Bull Hotel, Peterborough.]
