SENATOR CLORAN.

(Received February 9th, 9.50 p.m.) OTTAWA, February 8. Senator Henry Joseph Cloran, aged seventy-five, died after a prolonged illness. [Senator Cloran was born in Montreal of Irish parents and educated there andl in Paris. From 1882 to 1887 he was editor of the "Montreal lost and True Witness'' and was also president of the Quebec Press Association. He was called to the Senate m 1903.J MR W. N. GILLIES. BEISBANE, February 9. Mr W N. Gillies, a former Premier of Queensland, .died suddenly to-day. rSIr William Neal Gillies was born in New South Wales in 1868 and became a farmer and sugar grower there, at one time being president of the Sugar Defence League. Later he selected) land in North Queensland and in 1902 he was elected to the Assembly. In 1918 he was appointed Minister for Justice and in 1919 Secretary for Agriculture. In 1925 he became Premier, but resigned in the same year.J
