A tropical cyclone was centred south of Vavau on Saturday afternoon and is probably moving south-east. There is a slight depression in the South Tasman Sea. Present indications are for north to nor'- , west winds over the eastern half of the Tasman sea and New Zealand, later backing to southerly moderate, north of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, elsewhere fresh to strong at times and reaching gale force in Foveaux Strait. Rather rough seas over the Eastern Tasman Sea and southward! of New Plymouth and Castlepoint, moderate elsewhere. The weather, fine at first and warm to hot, but clouding over and beeoming unsettled later with scattered show*rs, chiefly in Westland and Otago.
