Ths Canterbury Lawn Tenuis Association's suburban competition was advanced a further stage on Saturday afternoon. The weather conditions were all that could be desired, and there were some good contests, especially in the A grade section. PARIS, February 8. The Davis Cup draw at the President's Palace was a brilliant affair. The Ambassadors of most of the competing countries attended. M. Gaston Doumergue (French President) said politeness demanded that he should offer his best wishes to the visitors for their success, but he hoped and believed that the draw would again be made in Paris in 1929. Rene Lacoste, commenting on the draw, expressed the opinion that the United StatesJapan match would bo the deciding contest in the American none, and the AustraliaSouth Africa contest in the European zone. The complete draw is as follows: European Zone. First round: Australia and Italy, Rumania and Belgium, Germany and Greece, Chile and Spain, Jugoslavia and Finland, Argentina and Great Britain. Hungary and Norway, Ireland and Holland, Poland and Denmark. Philippines and Austria, South Africa and Sweden. Second round: India and Switzerland, Portugal and New Zealand, Czocho-slovakia versus the winners of the South-Africa-Sweden match. American Zone.
