PHILATELIC SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Christchurch Philatelic Society was held in the Canterbury Employers' rooms on Thursday evening, there being again a good attendance. It was decided to form a junior branch of the Society for boys of less than eighteen years of age. As was pointed out at the meeting, much money was wasted and many boys spoiled good stamps through lack of knowledge of how to handle them, and how to mount them in an album. It was suggested that, if possible, one or two boys at least from each of the- main schools in Christchurch be obtained as members, and these iD thoir turn could pass on pints to their fellow scholars. It was also decided that at the annual meeting in March, a dinner should be held. The display of the evening was forwarded from Mr F. JI. McL. Patterson, of Timarn, comprising two collections, the first of Greece and the second of Russia. The albums are noted throughout New Zealand for the beautiful hand designing of each page, as well as the superb condition of all the stamps. Mr Patterson must have spent many hours in the preparation of these albums, and is to be congratulated on the artistic effect he has produced. -
