TQ-DAY'S PROGRAMME.
"Stage Madness," starring Virginia Valli, ami "The Beauty Prize," with Tiola Dana and Pat O'Malley in the title roles, are thi> two main attractions in the new p:o----gramme at the Strand Theatre. "The Beauty Prize" is a tale of a beauty contest, eo it is not unnatural to assume the central theme concerns a pretty girlSo it turns out, the belle being chosen to represent her State at the national finals. She triumphs and is acclaimed as a wealthy society debutante. But the maid is not at heme in all this vainglory and tries to hide from the limelight. Thence the action moves quickly and works up to a most dramatic climax.
In "Stage Madnes3," Miss Valli plays the role of a charming dancer. Twinkling feet and natural charm soon bring Paris to its feet. It is not long before she find* herself the wife of an ascetic to whom gaiety *pelt sin. Henceforward it is a duel between affection for h«r husband and love of her art. Soon she rejoined that which lay closest to her hrtrt, the footltehts. She travelled to America and again enthralled her public. Her husband also voyaged tt> America, and the denouement in the picture is reached when the two have * i*rnnon over the footlights on the Great Whit* Way.
