OUTBREAK OF FIRE AT RANGIORA.

Shortly before 11 o'clock last night fire was discovered in the upstairs portion of a building in High street, Eangiora, almost in the centre of the town, owned by Mr W. Blackett and used by Mr H. A. Bullock, motor mechanic, as a motor and bicycle shop. On the alarm being given, Mr J. Hood, who was in his motor-car, rushed to the place and breaking in the back door, kept the fire in check with the extinguisher from his motor-car. On the arrival of the brigade, the fire was quickly suppressed. Very little damage was done to the building, which_ is understood to be insured in the Norwich Union Office. . The stock, owned by Mr Bullock, is insured in the Alliance Office for £4OO. Most of it was removed, the Fire Brigade making a good save. Mr Bullock, who lives at Waikuku Beach, had gone home before the alarm was given.
