A first oft'onder was convicted and fined 'JOs, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. ■ RESIANDS GRANTED.
William Rothwell Kemp, aged 43 years, charged with committing an indecent act. thereby iusulting a woman, was . remanded until January 12th. Bail was allowed, self in £75 and one surety oC £75, a condition being that he reports daily to the police. A-remand until January 3 oth was granted in the case in which George Wilson, ll £ e d 33 years, was charged with being an idle and ° disorderly person, in that ho had insufficient lawful means of support; with attempting to steal 30d in money,'the propcrtj of John Shilling, and with assaulting Skilling with intent to rob. CAOfj FOR THEFT.
A plea of guilty was oufcrod by Ralph McNish when charged with (stealing goods, valued at 13s Cd, the property of H. Oakley and Sons. . ~ Accused said he had como up for the New Year. Drink had caused him to commit the offence. Ho had never been charged with theft. Accused was convicted and sentenced to seven days' imprisonment. An order was made for the goods to l>c returned to the owner.
