JUMPED FROM BRIDGE.

UNKNOWN MAN TAKES HIS LIFE. (press association telegram.) HAMILTON, January 4. In the view of a number of passersby, but before any realised his intention, an unknown middle-aged man climbed over the handrail of the Hamilton railway bridge at 12.45 p.m. today and, crossing the sleepers, flung himself 80 feet into the Waikato river below. He rose to the surface in a huddled posture, flung up his arms and disappeared. None of the passers-by took enough notice to identify him except that he was tall, and was wearing a blue suit and felt hat. Three persons previously have chosen the scene of the tragedy as a means of ending their existence. Dragging operations are in progress but the body has not yet been recovered.
