Jack (Cashmere Hills) returned yesterday from a holiday visit to Auckland. Mr and Mrs Owen and family (Linwood) are spending a holiday with Mr and Mrs "Pratt, Pareora. Nurse Chivors. who has spent tue last two years in Christchurch, intends returning to Melbourne by tlic Manuka this week. Mr and Mrs J. S. Neville have returned from a holiday visit to the West Coast. Misses Myrtle and Irene Tulett (Papanui) have returned after spending a holiday at Timaru. Miss P. Warren has returned to Christchurch from an extended holiday spent in Australia. Mrs A. Sim and Miss L. Sim (Auckland) arrived in Christchurch 011 Saturday and are guests at Coker's Hotel. Mrs Lino and Miss Freda Line (Wellington), who have been the guests of Mrs J. Bain, Head street, Sumner, have left for Timaru. The engagement is announced of W. Elaou, elder son of Mr and Mrs T. ElcDon Coates, Grey mouth, and Geraldine, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs F. W. Anderson, "Risingholme," Opawa. Mrs C. Wells and Miss Wells (HarakSke street), who have been visiting Mrs E. C. Studholme, Waimate, have returned to Riccarton. Mr H. H. Louglinan, Mr and Mrs Bcdc Louglinan and Miss Halmai Louglinan are leaving to-day for a iribtor trip to Kaikoura, Blenheim, and Nelson. Miss Heywood (Montreal street) is visiting her sister, Mrs Sanderson Hawke's Bay Mr and Mrs Wrey Nolan and their two children, who have been spending a few weeks in Christchurch, are now the guests of Mr and Mrs lan Murchi- . son, Lake Coleridge. Mre Arthur Grigg, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs Cracroft Wilson, Cashmero, is returning to Longbeach to-day. Mr and Mrs Sinclair Murchison are spending a holiday at Kaikoura.

Cowlishaw, to England, some months ago, returned to tho Dominion by the Tahiti, Professor and Mrs Salmond and Misb Nancy Salmond (Merivale) are spending a holiday at Ashburton. Frank Dunnage and Mrs Dunnage are spending several months in Paris, where Mr Dunnage has been appointed assistant chaplain at the Embassy Church. The Rev. G. G. A fascinating and popular restaurant in Paris is the Cliiquito, where one dances on a glass pathway between the dinner and there are two bands, one American and one Andalusian'. The liall where one enters is lit with aquariums in which brilliant fish swim in green bubbling water.
The management of the Winter Garden announces its usual cabaret dance for Saturday nest. Dancing will commence at 8.30 p.m. and continue until midnight. Bailey's Dance Orchestra will be in attendance. " .
Princess Juliana, of Holland, who is now in her nineteenth year, lias writtep a play based on the old fairy tale of "Bluebeard.'' It depicts Bluebeard as a psycho-analyst, who makes his wives the victim of his pet theories. The p!ay was produced by tho Women Students' Association of The .Hague, Princess playing the part of the surviving wife, and it was _ well received (says an English writer). Princess Juliana is heiress to the throne of the Netherlands. She is a keen student and speaks English, French and German fluently.
