AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. (FItESS ASSOCIATION 71LEGBAM.) AUCKLAND, January 4. The Auckland provincial swimming championships were held at the Tepid Baths to-night. In the 220 yds men's breaststroko, N K. Sylon equalled the record of 3min 9 4-saec held by E. C. Herd (Canterbury). The 100 yds was won by J. P. F&rrell, the eighteen-year-old son of Mr J Farrell, tho well-known manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd. In the 440 yds ladies' championship, Miss D. Grant effected a surprise by defeating Miss J. Bell, holder of tho title Following were the results of the principal events: 100 Yards, Hen—J. P Farrell 1, J. Enwright 2, L. Fairgray 3. Won by a foot Time, 60 2-ssec. 410 Yards, Ladies—Miss D. Grant 1, Mies J Bell 2. Tho only starters. Won by fifteen yards. Time, 6min 31 2-Ssec. 220 Yards Men's Breaststroke—N. K. Sylon 1, T. Lowe 2. Miss G. Pideeon, swimming against time, wss third. Won by twenty yards. Time, 3min 9 4-ssec. Miss Pidgeon's time was 3min 37see. 220 Y'ards, Men—G. Bridson 1, J. Env.right 2. E. V. Cunnold 3. Won by eight yard 3. Time, 2min 36 3-ssec. WANGANUI CHAMPIONSHIPS. (PBESS ASSOCIATIOK TILSGBAM.) WANGANDI, January 4. At the Waaj-anui swimming championships to-night two local records were broken. In the 100 yds ladies' championship Natalie Stratton won in 72sec. The previous record was 77 3-ssec. In the 220 yds girls' intermediate championship the same swimmer won in 3niin 13 3-SfCC. The previous record was 3min 29 3-oscc.
