CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED
Dull and showery weather broke for the last day of the South Island Rifle Association's championship meeting at Redcliffs yesterday. As on the previous day, good entries were received in all matches, in which the competition was keen. Shooting was delayed for a brief period in the morning owing to the ram but m the afternoon fhe weather cleared A strong wind made accurate shooting difficult, but under, the circumstances a good exhibition was given. Yesterday the championships were decided, there being good shooting in the teams match, which was won by the Sydenham Club The Stewart Dawson Cup (for the competitor making the highest aggregate score in all distances of 000 yards) and the Colonel Smith Cup (for the competitor making the highest aggregate score in the Nelson and Otago matches), were won by Rifleman V. Tims (Christchurch Railway Club). At the conclusion of the meeting the trophies were presented to the successful competitors by Colonel Comm. M. M. Gard'ner, who congratulated the Association on the success of the meeting. The results were as follows: SERVICE MATCH. (Snapshooting, 300 yards.) President D. F. Keir (Ashburton) 35 £1 sc.
