MARY PICKFORD.
"MY BEST GIRL." Regardless of the sardonic comments of the intelligentsia, the "Cinderella" theme will continue to be an ever-popular basis for motion picture inotif3, according to Alary Pickford. "The old, old story of the poor girl who eventually marrios her Prince Charming will always have a wido appeal in everv country." In the star's newest United Artists' vchi.-le, "My Best Girl," which wilt be presented at tho Grand Theatre next Monday, Miss Pickford adheres to her convictions. Playing the 1010 of a hard-working stock girl, in the basement of u large D-and-JO cont store, who falls in lovo with the son of the wealthy owner of the establishment, "America's Sweetheart" cmployß the universal Cinderella theme as a background for this now comedy-romance. "My Best Girl" contains tho essentials of a perfect narrative, including such indispensable ingredients as contrast, human appeal, and sympathy. And above all this kind of story personifies the universal human ambition to rise ■ above one's environment. In tho struggles and dreams of the heroine, every girl sees her own struggles and dreams vivified. So long as screen entertainment is made for the public, this typo of picture' will enjoy popularity. The box plans for the season will open at The Bristol Piano Company to-morrow.
