Wellington to-day retained the Wilding Tennis Shield by defeating the Auckland team on the Association grounds at Mivamar, winning all their matches besides having two matches in hand from the previous day's play. Eain overnight did not interfere much with the courts, but the wind ha-d tamed from north to south. Wellington won by eight matches to two.
