Johnnie Leckie. the New Zealand feather champion (Dunedin), Bst 12Jlb, met and defeated Duke Macjdox, the ex-champion (Hastings), Sst 1311b. here to-night. The fight ended in the ninth round, when Maddox's left ankle gave out, and the referee awarded the fight to Leckie. In a second ten-round fight Tommy Griffiths (Dunedin), Bst 51b, drew with F. Taylor (Auckland)), Sst, in a splendid fight. The fight, which was the closest seen here for a long time, was clean and scientific, both men displaying perfect foot and headword.
